How do you define self-love?

You yourself, as much as anybody in the entire universe, deserve your love and affection.

Buddha

February being the month of love I thought we should do something different. Usually this month the focus is on relationships.

I found myself in deep thought after a colleague of mine asked me if is it wrong to be in a relationship with yourself. I was puzzled for a moment and then realized the importance of focusing on yourself and loving yourself.

Without going any further, I want us to shift the conversation of this month. Our main focus is on self-love. Can you fall in love with someone else without loving yourself first? The answer is no. It all begins with you.

I want us to have a conversation. Tell me How do you define self-love? What does it look like to you?
I’m looking forward to interacting with you on the comments block.
Happy love month and thank you for passing by.

  1. Self love is indeed everything. It is the foundation upon which we build our happiness and well-being. When we have a healthy sense of self-love, we value ourselves, prioritize our needs, and treat ourselves with kindness and compassion. Self-love allows us to set boundaries, make choices that align with our values, and forgive ourselves when we make mistakes. It helps us cultivate a positive self-image and embrace our unique qualities and quirks. With self-love, we are more resilient in the face of challenges and are better equipped to handle setbacks. It also allows us to have healthier relationships with others, as we are able to love and accept ourselves fully, we set the standard for how we allow others to treat us. Ultimately, self-love is about recognizing our worthiness and deservingness of joy, love, and fulfillment. It is a lifelong journey of growth and learning, but it is absolutely essential for our overall well-being and personal development.❤️❤️❤️

  2. Dear Belovedkhanyi.

Self-love is when one nature their inner child for that is where it all begins. When you listen to your inner self you know what to allow in yourself, you create your own boundaries and you don’t allow anyone to have an upper hand over you.

Self-love make it easy for one to walk away from a any situation that doesn’t serve you as a person.

It is a foundation for everything. it elevates everything to do with Body, Mind and Soul.

This is my definition of self-love.

  3. I find self-love causes a certain amount of stress. I concentrate on what I want and struggle to achieve rather than being willing to help others. I am actually happier when I do not think about myself so much.

    1. I appreciate your perspective on self-love. It’s true that focusing solely on our own wants and needs can feel selfish at times. However, I believe that self-love also involves being kind and compassionate towards others. Finding a balance between self-care and helping others can lead to a more fulfilling and harmonious life. It’s important to remember that self-love is a personal journey and may look different for everyone. Thank you for sharing your thoughts.
